About Bai Lan Studio

Bai Lan, Owner & Founder
Certified Pilates Instructor, Professional Ballet Instructor
Born in Hohote, Nel Mongol province, PRC, Bai Lan was selected to attend the National Ballet school of China at the age of 11. She became an International Principle Dancer and danced professionally for 22 years. In that time, she received awards at the International Ballet competition in Varna, Bulgaria in 1986, and awards at the first Chinese Ballet Competition in 1985. Upon immigrating to the USA in 1988, Bai Lan performed with several different American companies.  Bai Lan has years of Classical Ballet performance experience, along with all the training and teaching methodology. In addition, she has been highly trained and certified in Pilates, Masterstretch, Elvis, and a variety of other fitness techniques designed to strengthen, tone, align, and rehabilitate the human body. She continues her education at seminars around the country.  She has successfully rehabilitated many clients with varying issues after injuries and surgeries.  After many years of teaching and training clients, she is still enthusiastic about her work and looking forward to her next new adventure. 

Majic Clark, Instructor
Miss Majic Clark began her training in Classical Ballet at the age of twelve under Bartlesville’s
renowned Miss Charlotte Lyke where she studied and performed with Bartlesville Civic Ballet for
five years performing in The Nutcracker and other Classical pieces as well as attending Arvola-
Ahonen summer workshops including their three week intensive in Clear Lake, TX.
Miss Majic taught art, crafts, and dance at the Mutual Girl’s Club in Bartlesville, OK for three
years as well as choreographing dance programs twice a year for the students.

Since 2012, Miss Majic has been studying with the Bartlesville Civic Ballet Academy under Miss
Soili Arvola, Mr. Leo Ahonen, and Miss Katie Matney, and has attended workshops with Miss
Melissa Zervas-Hane as well as studying under Cheryl Calvert and Bai Lan at Bai Lan studios in
Miss Majic spent 2013-2014 studying Miss Charlotte Lyke’s acclaimed training program for pre-
school and kindergarten ballet students.
Miss Majic attended workshops in 2017 with Miss Soili Arvola in Lake Charles, LA, and Kona,
HI, and taught Mr. Ahonen’s “Trepak” or “Russian” variation from The Nutcracker to students at
West Hawaii Ballet Theatre. Miss Majic has taught beginner through advanced students of all
ages at Bartlesville Civic Ballet as well as private classes.
Miss Majic currently studies under Miss Katie Matney at the Bartlesville Civic Ballet Academy
and performs with the Bartlesville Civic Ballet in their annual performance of The Nutcracker
and has performed such classical pieces as La Bayadere - Kingdom of the Shades, Arvola’s
Dracula, Arvola’s Tarzan, Classical Symphony, and Mr. Ahonen’s Touché, and will be performing
in Sleeping Beauty in April 2018.

Cheryl Cavert, Ballet Instructor (Adult Beginning/Intermediate)
Born in Tulsa, Cheryl Cavert studied classical ballet with Roman Jasinski and  Mosceylne Larkin, Roman L.  jasinski, Anthony Manescau, and Bai Lan. She danced with the Tulsa Civic Ballet, Tulsa Ballet, and Leap of Faith Dance Ensemble where she also choreographed and directed. Additionally, she was involved in dance choreography for various programs at St. John’s Episcopal Church. Currently teaching at Bai Lan Studio, Cheryl has also taught ballet at Central High School Fine Arts Academy as well as substituted at Cherry Street Studio and Jasinski Academy. And now she is excited to offer Core Barre - the Art of Smart Movement at BaiLan studio.

Kim Downing, Pilates Mat Instructor
Kim Downing received her certification from the Physical Mind Institute in 2010, and has been a lifelong student of ballet. Kim is a former figure skater and also served as a judge for the US Figure Skating Association. Kim loves yoga, dancing and outdoor sports and is currently a Pilates Mat Instructor at Bai Lan Studio.
